Letter from Claire - Nov 27

Dear Families,

Giving Tuesday tomorrow! Our school theme this month is Gratitude and I have been reflecting on gratitude. We are grateful for the rich programming and resources that we can provide our students, and we are grateful for our dedicated and tireless teachers and staff!  We are also grateful for the engaged and involved MSC parent community, who so generously give their time, skills and financial support to help make our school a very special place.

The Annual Appeal is one of our most critical fund raising efforts. Every year I am touched and grateful to all of our MSC families who come together and give so generously so that all our students have access to enriching programs and opportunities that would not otherwise be possible with our school budget. If you haven't yet had an opportunity to make your gift this year, please consider doing so this week as we celebrate Giving Tuesday throughout the school.

News! We are happy to welcome Modesta Peralta as our Assistant Principal. Modesta is a mother of two adult children. She has worked for the NYC public school system for over 20 years, both as a special education teacher and an administrator. She is passionate about children and how they impact our world.  Modesta believes that we are all continuous learners making the partnership between the families and a child's teachers so very important.

Kerry Powers has been appointed as our Assistant Principal. As a member of our community for the past three years, she will be able to transition to the new role seamlessly.  For the past three years, Kerry has been working with the MSC community in a part-time supervisory role and Interim AP.  Prior to that, she spent 15 years teaching middle school Humanities in Manhattan and a year coaching progressive NYC school principals.
