Letter from Claire - Oct 23

Dear Families,

Our Middle School Open House was a success! We had a big turnout, with more than 300 people participating. Thank you Alaina, Amy, Matthew and Bernard for speaking about our wonderful middle school curriculum. Thank you to our 6th, 7th, 8th grade ambassadors, and to our alumni, for speaking to the different groups about our impressive school. Thank you also to Susan Gargiulo for organizing, planning preparing (amazing!!), to our Parent Coordinator Caren for her support and all the fantastic parent volunteers who led the tours.

Our next event is Chat with Claire on Tuesday, October 24th @ 5:30 pm in the Science Lab (5th Floor).  The topic is snack.  We hope you can attend, as this will be a joint meeting with the PTA.

Thank you to Elizabeth S and Amy P for leading and organizing October Town Hall. The theme is responsibility. Also, thank you both Amy’s Kindergarten and Elizabeth V’s 2nd grade classes for hosting. Check out Amy’s kindergarten video on responsibility on our website on www.ps333.org

My 8th grade Advisory and Madelene's 2/3 class meet today as buddies. We are co-planning a project where students are designing plans for updating the flowerbeds in the little yard. Together our goal is to plant tulips in a design that represents community. It is a part of our 8th grade legacy project where students Design a Service Project to show their citizenship and stewardship.

We had an informative and productive meeting with Meghan from TC in grades 3-5. We sorted on demand opinion writing pieces using the thin slicing for assessment tool.

Our K-2 teams met with Math PD coach, Dianne. We reviewed an assessment tool on counting strands. Our goal is to assemble partnerships and center work based on the results from the assessment.

Important safety reminder:  Due to the construction happening outside our building, the little and big yard are closed after school until further notice.  Supervised afterschool groups can use the yard until the construction crews arrive, usually by 4pm.

As Halloween approaches, please remember that the MSC community has families from many different cultures and traditions. Some families in our school community do not celebrate holidays because of religious or cultural beliefs. Therefore, we do not celebrate holidays, or decorate the school or classrooms for holidays. Please remind your children of our policy. Students should NOT wear costumes to school.
