MSC Monday Blast!

Blast Includes:

Second and Last Soft Lockdown
Dear Families,
As you are aware, participating in emergency preparedness drills empowers our students to feel more in control of situations that might otherwise be frightening and disorienting.  As a building, just as we hold Fire Drills, we are required to hold 2 Lockdown Drills.  We will be holding the 2nd, and last Soft Lockdown Drill this week.
For your information, here are the Lockdown Drill Protocols:
During a LOCKDOWN DRILL everyone stays in the building and moves to a safety zone.
The following steps will be taken:
1.At the signal, (announcement over the loud speaker) teachers/staff will lead the students into their classrooms.
2.Teachers/staff CLOSES the classroom doors and turns off the lights.
3.Students and teachers/staff move into the Safety Zone within their classrooms (away from the doors and windows).
4.Teachers/staff takes up a position with the students that will ensure order, calm.
5.Students remain QUIET during the drills.
6.When the “all clear” announcement is given, the flow of day resumes.

Every year at our Live Auction (which will take place during our Celebrate MSC event on March 28th!), we make a special appeal to fund a targeted project. We are thrilled to announce our Fund-a-Cause for this year is MUSIC!
Claire has some wonderful ideas about how to incorporate music into our already amazing arts curriculum. Instrumental music! Chorus! A dedicated music room! How much she can do really depends on how much money we raise during the Fund-a-Cause paddle raise at the live auction.
Please join us at the March 10th PTA meeting to discuss the 2015 Fund-a-Cause: MUSIC PROGRAMS! If you can't make the meeting, you can always email the PTA at or Claire at
