May Green & Wellness letter

Dear PS 333 Parents, Teachers, Community:

Happy spring everyone!

May has been exciting and busy with the greens labs and Family Fitness Fun Night. The greens labs were a great hit. We made balsamic vinaigrette and honey mustard dressing along with a lemon cinnamon yogurt dip with some strawberries. They kids got to dip lettuce and spinach into the dressings. What a fun way to eat your greens! All classes got brochures to take home with the recipes, please let me know if you’d like one.

The May 16th Family Fitness Fun Night was another HUGE success. Thanks to the collaboration of several parents and a grant from the Office of School Wellness, we all had a very health, fun filled evening. Thanks to the Parks Department, we had additional wheelchairs so that all kids could play together. The excellent coaches from Super Soccer Stars led a fabulous game of wheelchair soccer where the competition was fierce. In addition to wheelchair soccer, our regular (and dedicated) coaches joined in on the fun: Volleyball with Robin; Meditation with Mavis; Krav Maga; Yoga with Foster; Zumba. We capped off the evening with another wonderful dinner from Chop't Salad. Thanks to all who came out and joined in on the fun.

Upcoming this month:

Our next wellness & green meeting will be Tuesday, June 3rd right after drop off in the greenhouse. All are welcome!

Our last harvest day is coming up! We will be continuing our love of greens with more salad dressing recipes on June 12th (in the greenhouse for K-3) and June 13th (in the cafeteria for 4-8). If you’d like to volunteer to help on either day, please let me know.

I hope the rest of the year wraps up for everyone.
