Dear MSC families,
We are sending you an email to announce the upcoming season of “Knightwatch Medieval” at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. (Performance dates are May 30th and June 6th. This series of imaginative overnight experiences is designed for children ages 6 to 12 and their adult chaperones. “Knightwatch Medieval” offers a unique blend of education, fun, and fantasy under the roof of the world’s largest cathedral.
Guests will be transported back in time to the age of storybook kings, princesses, and knights. Within the walls of the candle-lit Cathedral, participants engage in an interactive play and scavenger hunt, learn period dances, and sculpt clay gargoyles. One of the new highlights of the evening is a session of sword fighting. Children will be instructed in the finer points (no pun intended) of swordplay. Rest assured that the swords are made out of sturdy foam and are safe and fun.
So come armed with your imagination and ready to hang out with kings, princesses, knights, and a delightful court jester. At the close of the evening, you’ll roll out your sleeping bags onto comfortable cots and fall asleep to the tales told by our resident
storyteller under the protective arches of the Nave.
And keep in mind… The Cathedral’s current art exhibit, Phoenix: Xu Bing at the Cathedral, will add to the magic and make-believe. These magnificent multi-media birds hang from the Cathedral ceiling and span nearly the entire length of the Nave. This makes the sleepover portion of the night truly spectacular.
A limited number of regularly priced $135 tickets are being offered to MSC families at a 40% discount ($85 per person) for the May 30th & June 6th sleepovers! (Please note: one adult chaperone must attend for every 3 children participating.) To take advantage of this offer, please visit:
