MSC needs a parent representing grades 3-5 for an open position on the School Leadership Team (SLT).  If you would like to be nominated, or nominate someone else, please email mscelectioncommittee@gmail.com  or provide a note in an envelope marked “nomination committee” to Maxine, MSC parent coordinator in room 516, by Friday, 9/24.  Elections will be held on Tuesday, 9/27.   Please note that the SLT ByLaws have been modified to better represent MSC’s grade groupings K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and an all-grade representative.

Description of SLT and SLT Positions
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a joint team of Parents, Teachers, School Staff, and the Principal that is mandated by the Chancellor's Regulation A-655. SLTs play a significant role in creating a structure for school-based decision making and shaping the path to a collaborative school culture between these four groups. The SLT must function in a collaborative manner that employs a consensus-based decision-making process as its primary method of making decisions. The SLT develops its own bylaws and holds regular meetings.
 
According to Chancellor’s Regulation A-655 on School and District Leadership Teams, dated March 24, 2010:
 
The SLT assists in the evaluation and assessment of a school’s educational programs and their affect on student achievement. The SLT is responsible for developing an annual school Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) that is aligned with the school-based budget for the ensuing school year. The CEP is developed concurrently with the school-based budget so that it may inform the budget process and result in the alignment of the CEP and the budget. The principal, who is responsible for developing the school-based budget, shall consult with the SLT during this development process. However the principal makes the final determination concerning the school-based budget. The SLT provides an annual assessment to the Community District of the principal’s record of developing an effective shared decision-making relationship with the SLT members during the year. The SLT is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the school.
