8th Grade Spring Family Conference 2016

February 29, 2016

Dear 8th Grade Families,

Our second round of family conferences will be the week of March 14th.  What is new for this round of family conferences is they will be student-led. To prepare our 8th graders for high school, 8th graders with their advisor present will lead the conference with their families. Each student will lead a conversation using prepared pieces of work to show their progress and learning for this current marking period.  This new format is student centered and empowers students to take ownership of their learning.   Students will speak to their work and have an active voice in the conference. Student-led conferences help strengthen the close bonds between staff, students, and families as they continue to be a team during conferences.

As families sign up for conferences on sign up genius please remember:

Ø  Student must be present for a conference to take place (a conference must be rescheduled if the student cannot attend).

Ø  The student leads the conference.

Ø  It is also a Chancellor initiative where conferences are student-centered, more inclusive, and support student accountability.

Ø  Evening session conference is Wednesday, March 16th is the 5:30-8:00.

Ø  Half day afternoon session conference is Thursday, March 17th 12:30-2:53.  Students are dismissed at 12:00.
