For 8th Grade Families

Dear 8th Grade Families:

I have received word that the high school results will become available on Thursday, March 5th.  I am not sure what time they will actually arrive but as soon as they do, they will be mailed out so you can expect to receive them by Saturday.  The letters will contain the results for both the regular high schools as well as the specialized high schools.  Students who were accepted into both programs will need to submit their decision to me by March 20th.   Please note that every year there are at least 10% of students who are not matched to a high school in round 1.  Claire and I will contact those families directly to offer guidance and support through the remainder of the process and these students and their families will become our priority until they are appropriately placed in a school.

Having said that, experience tells me that many families who do receive a placement will still want to file an appeal for another school that they were hoping for.  Appeals will not take place until May, so please be patient and hold your phone calls and emails until then, as the next few weeks will be dedicated to those who DO NOT have a school placement or wish to apply to a brand new school.  The New School Fair will be taking place on March 14th and 15th from 11am to 2pm at the Martin Luther King Campus on Amsterdam Ave.    Applications for the new schools will be due to me by March 20th.

If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Best,
