We will be having the first Inclusivity and Diversity Committee (IDC) meeting of the year on Wednesday, October 14th at 8:45 am in room 516.

MSC KINDERGARTEN TOUR DATES 2016-2017

HOW TO APPLY TO KINDERGARTEN

Families with children who will enter kindergarten during the 2016–17 school year should apply to kindergarten online, over the phone, or in person at a Family Welcome Center. This year their application will launch earlier than in years past – the application period will begin on December 7 and end on January 15.

You can apply to kindergarten from December 7 to January 15 in one of three ways:

  1. Online, in ten languages
  2. Over the phone by calling 718-935-2400
  3. In person at a Family Welcome Center

Interpretation services are available in over 200 languages for the over-the-phone and in-person options.

MSC Middle School's Annual "Evening Open House"
Tuesday, November 10, 2015 / 5-7 PM

This 2-hour evening event is designed for all MSC 5th and 4th Grade families, and is open to all 5th Grade families throughout District 3 K-5 schools.

In the first hour, you will hear from the MSC Middle School teachers and administrators (who will discuss the curriculum in Grades 6, 7 and 8, and other academic aspects of the Middle School experience). In the second hour, you will tour the classrooms and Greenhouse, and hear from current 6th, 7th and 8th Grade students, plus alumni students (now in high school), with ample time for a robust Q&A.

MSC Middle School Annual "Day Time Walking Tour" Tuesday, November 24, 2015 / 8:30-10:00 AM

This daytime event is only open to MSC 5th Grade students and their families. It provides an opportunity to quietly tour the classrooms in 6th, 7th and 8th Grade while classes are in session. Such access gives participants a chance to "listen, observe and get the feel for the MSC Middle School experience."


 A Day for Families: Supporting a Child's Literacy Development Takes ALL of Us, Working Together

Families are welcome to a half day of workshops at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, 535 W. 120th St. There will be topics across all grades, K-8, including some workshops given in Spanish. Topics include: What Does Your Child's Reading Classroom Look Like? Supporting Your Child's Comprehension at Home; How to Support Revision in Writing. Tickets will be available from Maxine tomorrow morning on a first-come-first-served basis.
