Wellness in the Schools brings MSC a new WITS Coach, Jose Rosario.

Jose Rosario was born and raised in New York City. He played baseball and basketball at Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics, where his passion for coaching began. Prior to and throughout college, he coached youth programs at his local recreational center. He graduated from and played basketball for Fordham University. His athletic career focused on basketball but he loves to play all sports recreationally. Coach Jose feels strongly about the importance of play whether it is sports, games, or just understanding movement. He believes in a strong mind, body, and spirit. WITS Coach Jose’s goals are to inspire, mentor, and lead by example.

Coach for Kids focuses both on physical and emotional-social development of students by teaching kids fun games while instructing them on how to work in teams and handle complex social situations. Coach Jose will help MSC students achieve the following goals:

·      Actively engage children in healthy, fun, physical activity
·      Prevent playground bullying
·      Develop pro-social behaviors
·      Maintain a consistent recess yard structure for WITS games, sports, and free play offerings
·      Encourage participation and team building activities among School Aides/Recess Teachers
