Summary of November SLT Meeting

During the November School Leadership Team (SLT) meeting, Claire provided an update on staffing/teachers for grades 3, 7 and 8, and discussed expanding the Hiring Committee to include two parent representatives (stay tuned for details).  Parent Association (PA) co-presidents Andre and Alison reported on the Annual Appeal progress, Relatives and Special Friends Day (Fri, Dec 5th), and status of responding to lice in classrooms. Lice continues to be a problem in select grades.  Claire has organized the teachers who can be extra resources in checking and the PA was exploring options for helping bring in an outside group. However, parents are still requested to be vigilant in checking their children (see MSC Blast from 10/31 for tips on checking, including this great video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAsfE8AWxzU).  Building off the successful Responsive Classroom workshop and Partnership Mixer, the SLT proposed holding a February workshop for Parents and Teachers and a May “Curriculum & Arts Showcase”.  Upcoming Events:  SLT Meeting - December 3rd at 3:15pm; Reading Levels -December 9th at 8:45am. All are welcome!!   Future SLT agenda topics:  8th Grade overload, attendance and parent notification system, establishing a Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusiveness, and following up on Hiring Committee and Elevator issues.  If you have a question or would like to reach the SLT, please contactmscschoolleadershipteam@gmail.com.
